The new red oak, being recently installed in the living and front formal room, is naturally lighter in color compared to the existing floors, which have deepened in hue over the years due to oxidation and prolonged exposure to UV light. This aging process is similar to how a fence browns as it ages, with the older wood showing richer reds and darker tones than the fresh, lighter wood. We always inform our clients that using clear products like Bona Red Out is akin to going without makeup—it showcases all the natural beauty of the wood, but also reveals any inherent differences. These differences were discussed with the customer before we began, and they were aware that while the new and old floors might initially appear distinct, over time, the new wood will undergo a similar aging process, gradually catching up to the richer tones of the existing floors. To enhance the final look, we applied Bona Natural Seal over the Red Out. This seal contains 5% white pigment, which adds a subtle lightening effect, further refining the overall appearance. The new red oak, being recently installed in the living and front formal room, is naturally lighter in color compared to the existing floors, which have deepened in hue over the years due to oxidation and prolonged exposure to UV light. This aging process is similar to how a fence browns as it ages, with the older wood showing richer reds and darker tones than the fresh, lighter wood. We always inform our clients that using clear products like Bona Red Out is akin to going without makeup—it showcases all the natural beauty of the wood, but also reveals any inherent differences. These differences were discussed with the customer before we began, and they were aware that while the new and old floors might initially appear distinct, over time, the new wood will undergo a similar aging process, gradually catching up to the richer tones of the existing floors. To enhance the final look, we applied Bona Natural Seal over the Red Out. This seal contains 5% white pigment, which adds a subtle lightening effect, further refining the overall appearance.
